A Friendly Rivalry with a Purpose
Boulder, CO — February 2026: Few pairings are as iconic as grilled cheese and tomato soup. Starting this Sunday, February 22nd, two beloved Pearl St. sandwich shops are turning that classic pairing into a delicious competition with a purpose.
Lindsay Shaw, owner of Lindsay’s Boulder Deli @ Haagen Dazs and Marcy Miller, owner of Organic Sandwich Company, will once again go head-to-head in the second annual Sandwich Ladies Face Off. Both will showcase their take on the classic grilled cheese and tomato soup.
The friendly rivalry runs through late March, inviting the community to eat well, vote with their taste buds, and give back at the same time. Both shops will donate a portion of their proceeds to CASA Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children and Blue Sky Bridge – Boulder County’s Child Advocacy Center.
Why They’re Bringing It Back
What began as a lighthearted competition is now shaping up to be an annual event for Pearl St.’s restaurant scene:
“This competition started as a fun way to celebrate classic food and community,” said Miller. “Seeing how much support it received last year made bringing it back an easy decision.” Lindsay Shaw echoes that sentiment, emphasizing the local impact behind the playful rivalry: “It’s all about local love—local businesses, local food, and helping kids in our community. Plus, who doesn’t love grilled cheese and tomato soup?”
Kicking Things Off with Live Music
Opening day won’t just be about sandwiches. To launch the month-long competition, two University of Colorado student bands, Sniff and Katire, will perform live outside each shop. Both bands include musicians who work at Lindsay’s Boulder Deli, adding another layer of hometown connection to the festivities.
It’s the perfect excuse to grab lunch, enjoy some local music, and be part of a community event!
