Session Focus: Technology, Sustainability, and Workforce Development

Following COQI’s introduction, the Q4 Tech Talent session explored the intersection of Colorado’s energy demands, technology, and sustainability, along with workforce development opportunities across Boulder County’s tech sector.

Scot Rosenzweig, Founder & CEO of Sustainability Core Advisors, shared insights on Colorado’s sustainability landscape, touching on future trends, the regulatory environment, and key economic drivers. He emphasized that Colorado is, in many ways, setting a national example in sustainability and innovation, pointing to Energize Denver as a blueprint. He also underscored that strategic investments in technology can be effectively aligned with a strong sustainability framework.

From there, the session transitioned into workforce development. Nora Saenz and Dara DiRito from Workforce Boulder County presented their organization’s grant-funded initiatives to expand work-based learning opportunities for young adults. These programs aim to create internships, credential training, and apprenticeships in quantum. They also seek to improve access, exposure, and diversity in Colorado’s quantum talent pool.

Looking Ahead: Priorities for 2026

The session concluded with a discussion on the partnership’s key priorities for 2026, which included:

  • Spending more in-session time in discussion-based action groups
  • Spotlighting more resources and support for small businesses
  • Continuing to advance work-based learning opportunities
  • Exploring the potential risks and impacts of AI
  • Delving into economic data on Boulder’s tech landscape

These conversations offered valuable guidance for shaping the partnership’s focus and priorities in the year ahead.
